Briarcliff Manor had the highest tuberculosis ward in the east when it was built back in 1910. Although it was closed in 1971, Margaret Booth briefly restored the building. These are some of the most distinctive features of this structure:
8,000 residents
Briarcliff Manor is a town primarily for residential purposes, but the town hosts many recreational activities. Residents can take advantage of the village's many parks, clubhouses and recreation facilities. Residents can also visit the historic center, where they can shop in boutiques or eat at restaurants. Outdoor recreation is the number one pastime in this community. The community offers a variety of outdoor recreation options, such as fishing at Scarborough Park or riding a bicycle around the village, including the Poncantico River.

Four lighted tennis courts
There are four tennis courts that can be lit, so you can play whatever the weather. Residents can play on either two or all four of the tennis courts. Other outdoor sports facilities are also available. In addition to tennis, Briarcliff Manor also offers a half-court basketball court and soccer field. There are restrooms available and parking for 50 vehicles. This venue is full-service and offers beautiful Hudson Valley views.
Historic buildings
Briarcliff Manor is committed to its roots and has a number of events that highlight its heritage. To commemorate the 75th year of the village, the mayor established the Briarcliff Manor Scarborough Historical Society. When Pace University took over the building, the historical society started in the Briarcliff Middle School. It moved to its second floor. Since then, the society has expanded its mission to include preservation of village architectures and historical history.
King's College
In the late 1980s, King's College's enrollment declined, its buildings became outdated, and bad financial decisions forced the college to close. It was insolvent and its administrators tried unsuccessfully to sell the property. The village of Briarcliff Manor, however, resisted the proposal. But zoning laws limited the possibilities for development at the campus. The university's future was uncertain, and it eventually closed in 1994.
